When visiting a new destination for the first time, it is perfectly normal to have some difficulty in finding your way around and, even if today’s technology helps us, it is always useful to have some extra information from someone who knows the city well.
That’s why we have put together a guide to help you get to Altré quickly and easily without getting lost.
We have divided it into four parts so that it will be useful for all travellers, whether you arrive by plane, boat, train or car.
Enjoy your trip!
By plane
Hired car
Immediately after leaving the baggage claim area, follow the signs to the car rental terminal, which is located just outside the air terminal on the right. Please note that not all car rentals are located within the dedicated terminal. Some of them, for example, are next to Terminal 2.
In any case, at Olbia Airport the directions are very clear and you only need to remember the name of your rental company to find it easily.
Once you have picked up your car, simply follow these directions on Google Maps to arrive right in front of Altré.
There is plenty of free parking in the streets around Altré but sometimes, especially in high season, it may not be easy to find a space. However, just a few metres away is the covered pay car park at the Necropolis of San Simplicio. For more info and rates, click here.
Bus
Bus stops from Olbia airport are located outside the air terminal, only 50 meters away from the arrivals area, in front of the car rental terminal.
To reach Altré by travelling with ASPO, Olbia’s urban mobility company, you can choose either line 02 or line 10. Tickets can be purchased from the ticket machine inside the terminal, on the ASPO website or by downloading the app.
You can also choose to travel with the Arst blue buses that will leave you near the Olbia Terranova train station. The line is 514 in the direction of Olbia Porto Isola Bianca.
Also in this case Google Maps will be a faithful ally to help you choose the most convenient line according to your arrival time but if you need further support, in the arrivals area of the airport you will find a very organized info point.
Taxi
This is definitely the fastest – but also the most expensive – way to get to our guest house. The minimum price to get to Altré from the airport is 19 euros and will increase if you travel in the evening, on a public holiday or if you are travelling with luggage. On this page you can get a better idea of the price.
On foot
Getting to Altrè on foot from the airport is neither fast nor safe due to the city traffic and the lack of adequate pedestrian infrastructure. So our advice is: don’t do it!
By ship
Car
After disembarking, once through the port gates, getting to Altré will be quick and easy. In a few minutes you will be at our door, just follow the directions of Google Maps.
In the streets around Altré there is plenty of free parking but sometimes, especially in high season, it may not be easy to find a place. However, just a few metres away is the covered pay car park at the Necropolis of San Simplicio. For more info and rates, click here.
Bus
To get to Altré by travelling with ASPO, Olbia’s urban mobility company, you need to take line 09. Tickets can be purchased on the ASPO website or by downloading the app. There are currently no ticket offices inside the maritime station.
You can also choose to travel with the Arst blue buses that will drop you off near the Olbia Terranova train station. The line is 514 in the direction of Nuoro. Google Maps will be a faithful ally in helping you choose the most convenient line according to your arrival time.
On foot
If you feel like taking a 30-minute walk, getting to Altré from the port is definitely doable. Of course, it is not the best solution if you arrive late in the evening after a day on the sea, but it is still a good option if you are not in a hurry to get to our guest house (please remember that you can check in until 8pm and only by appointment).
As always, just follow the directions on Google Maps to make sure you don’t take a wrong turn.
By train
It may seem unbelievable to you, but in Olbia there are two railway stations on the same line 400 metres from each other. This nonsense can be very confusing for those who do not know the area and are travelling by train to Olbia for the first time. To make things even more complicated, they have decided to give them practically identical names: the historic, more central station is called Olbia, while the newer one is called Olbia Terranova. Altré is located exactly in between the two. Let us try to help you orient yourself according to where you are from.
From Sassari and Cagliari
For those coming from the south or west of Sardinia, the most convenient station to reach Altrè is Olbia Terranova. Once you get off the train and leave the station, turn right into corso Vittorio Veneto. After about 100 metres turn left into via Fiume d’Italia and once you are at the end of the street turn right and then immediately left: Altré will be there waiting for you.
If you don’t want to miss a single turn, just use Google Maps which will take you safely to your destination.
From Golfo Aranci
For those arriving from Golfo Aranci, the most convenient station to get to Altré quickly is Olbia (the most central one, to be clear).
As soon as you leave the train station, take the street in front of you, via Giacomo Pala, until you cross Corso Umberto I after a few metres. Turn right and follow the road until you reach the level crossing, then turn right and follow via San Simplicio for 120 metres. At the crossroads turn left into via Brigata Sassari and immediately afterwards take the second street on the right, via Trieste. Altrè is right there on your left. Any doubts? Google Maps is always here for you!
By car
Well, there is really little to explain here. If you are already in Sardinia and travelling by car, the best way is to follow the directions on Google Maps which will take you right to our door.
In the streets around Altré there is plenty of free parking but sometimes, especially in high season, it may not be easy to find a place. However, just a few metres away is the covered pay car park at the Necropolis of San Simplicio. For more info and rates, click here.
